These settings were developed and tested for cutting 1/4" (6 mm) mild/carbon steel using the xTool MetalFab 800W with CNC Cutter. This profile was developed through actual cutting tests to achieve reliable full penetration and consistent cut quality on 1/4" steel. Testing was performed using oxygen (O₂) assist gas at 8–10 PSI on mild/carbon steel purchased from Patton’s Steel. Material composition, actual thickness, surface condition, mill scale, machine calibration, and consumable condition can affect results. These settings are provided as a tested starting point and may require minor adjustments for your particular machine and material. Additional setup recommendations and lessons learned during testing are included in the Processing Tips below. Tested and shared by Desert Arc Manufacturing LLC.
