Material: Acacia wood coasters (HobbyLobby), surface coated with edible oil (finished board). Appearance Medium‑to‑dark hardwood grain with variable color and occasional knots; oil finish darkens engraved areas less predictably than raw wood, often producing softer contrast and increased surface scorching near knots. Thickness: 15 mm (solid plank). Machine & ProcessingMachine: xTool M2 (10W). Processing type: Raster engraving (surface marking) on baseplate (Jarvis). Mode used: Engrave, single pass shown in photo. Settings used (from upload) Passes: 1 Speed: 300 mm/s Power: 85% Notes & practical guidance for others - Contrast: Oil finish reduces natural contrast; expect mid‑tone, smoky marks rather than bright pale engraving. Multiple low‑power passes give more even, controllable contrast than a single high‑power pass. Knots & defects: Knots and resin pockets darken heavily and can char or pop (see small knot burn at ~10 o’clock in photo). Avoid placing fine detail over knots.
