Important safety notice

Settings are starting points — always run a test cut on scrap before your final piece. Follow your manufacturer's guidance, wear eye protection, and ensure proper ventilation.

M2 with 10W diode laser. 1 pass at 100% power and 3mm/s speed. This is for cutting just the stand. The ornament is a different, thinner wood. The tab depth and slot width were adjusted to account for the thicker board. An unintended, happy accident: I angled the two base pieces around the arm to minimize waste. It put the grain at an angle and when the pieces are stacked, it gives it a neat cross pattern.
